Muscat: National table tennis star Khaled Al-Darm won a bronze medal in the singles F10 category at the 5th West Asian Paralympic Games held in Muscat, Oman. Al-Darm displayed skill and performance characterized by concentration and fighting spirit, securing his place on the podium amidst competition.
According to Yemen News Agency, with this victory, the national team’s medal tally rises to four. This achievement follows a performance in athletics, where Abdulrahman Al-Nafish won two medals (silver in the 800m and bronze in the 1500m), and Ibrahim Al-Salawi won a bronze medal in shot put (F32 category) after competition. The country is participating in this tournament in three sports: goalball for the blind, table tennis, and athletics, as part of the Yemeni Paralympic Committee’s efforts to enhance the presence of these sports in regional events.
The national team is headed by the Secretary-General of the Paralympic Committee, Abdulrabbo Humaid, and his deputy, Khalid Al-Haimi. The coaching staff includes Ibrahim Karama Abbas as the goalball coach and Khaled Hazam Al-Nafish as the athletics coach. The players are Khalid Ahmed Al-Darm in table tennis (Category 10), Abdulrahman Khalid Al-Nafish in athletics (T37 running), Ibrahim Abduljabbar Al-Salawi in athletics (F32 club throw), and Mohammed Abdulqader Al-Kaf, Saleh Nasser Barahma, Khaled Abdullah Al-Muallim, and Asad Kamal Ali in goalball for the blind.
