Launch of 29th Free Eye Medical Camp in Al-Zuhrah District

Al-Zuhrah:The 29th free eye medical camp has commenced in Al-Zuhrah District, located in Hodeidah Governorate. This initiative is organized by the Gramin Yemen Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Environment and the local health office in the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the camp will operate for five days, providing examinations, tests, and surgical procedures for cataract removal and lens implantation to over a thousand patients from Al-Ma'ras area and its neighboring regions.

Abdulkhaliq Al-Khamisi, the camp director, stated that the services offered include examinations, the dispensing of free medication, and surgical operations for 400 cases. These services are under the supervision of Professor Yahya Al-Ghasali along with a team of experienced doctors and ophthalmology consultants.

The initial two days of the camp will focus on examinations and check-ups to identify cases that require surgical intervention, followed by pre-operative tests. Al-Khamisi highlighted that this camp is part of a series of 28 previous camps organized by the Gramin Yemen Medical Center, which successfully performed 9,345 free cataract and lens implantation surgeries, assisting patients from underprivileged groups and those with limited incomes.
