Sana'a: The Governor of Ibb, Abdulwahid Salah, has initiated the agricultural activities in the summer courses for the year 1447 AH. These activities are implemented by the agricultural sector in collaboration with the General Mobilization and the subcommittee for summer activities and courses in the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the launch at the 22 May School in Al-Mashnah District, Governor Salah emphasized the significance of agricultural activities in fostering community involvement in agriculture. He highlighted the role of these activities in promoting a culture of production and work among youth and adolescents, viewing them as a practical step to raise awareness about the importance of utilizing local resources.
Governor Salah further elaborated that summer courses create an ideal environment for instilling positive values and developing life skills in students. This contributes to their participation in achieving food security and self-sufficiency. He praised the agricultural sector's efforts in implementing programs that nurture a passion for agriculture among students. The governor reaffirmed the local authority's commitment to supporting such initiatives, emphasizing their role in building a generation aware of development issues and capable of contributing effectively to the agricultural sector. He called for collaboration between official and community efforts to expand these activities and improve their outcomes.
Abdul Fattah Ghallab, the General Mobilization Officer in the governorate, stressed the importance of incorporating agricultural activities into summer course programs. This integration helps develop students' abilities and provides them with practical skills that strengthen their connection to the land and production. He acknowledged the agricultural sector's role in supplying seedlings to model summer schools.
The Head of the Education Sector in the governorate, Mohammed Al-Ghazali, explained that the agricultural activities aim to enhance students' agricultural culture and connection to the land. He affirmed the commitment to providing comprehensive and practical programs in cooperation with relevant authorities to develop students' skills in various fields. Al-Ghazali noted that incorporating applied activities, especially agricultural ones, helps bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, enhancing students' innovative capabilities and application of knowledge in real-life scenarios. He emphasized that summer schools are crucial for discovering and developing students' abilities in an encouraging educational environment.
Engineer Hammoud Al-Rasas, Head of the Agriculture Sector in the governorate, stated that the agricultural activities support the summer course programs with practical activities. These activities instill the values of work and production in students and strengthen their connection to the local agricultural environment. He highlighted that the activities involve students in soil preparation, planting seedlings, monitoring growth stages, and encouraging them to undertake agricultural initiatives in their communities. Additionally, students receive awareness and guidance lessons on the importance of agriculture and preservation methods.
Al-Rasas mentioned that 30,000 seedlings of forest and fruit trees have been distributed to enhance the courtyards and grounds of targeted summer schools across various districts. This initiative aims to motivate students to engage in home gardening, utilize local resources, and develop their practical skills.
