Launch of Work at Electricity Meter Testing Laboratory in Standards, Metrology Authority

Sana'a: The Acting Minister of Economy, Industry and Investment, Sam Al Bashiri, inaugurated today the work at the electricity meter testing laboratory in the Yemeni Authority for Standards, Metrology and Quality Control. During the inauguration, Al Bashiri listened to an explanation from the Director General of the Authority, Abdullah Al Atifi, and specialists about the laboratory's working mechanism and its equipment. He affirmed that the inauguration of the new laboratory represents a qualitative addition to the Authority's work and comes within the framework of the continuous development plan to improve the efficiency of the Authority's laboratories in protecting consumers and reducing counterfeit goods in the markets.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Acting Minister of Economy, Industry and Investment also inspected a number of new devices being added to the Authority's laboratories in the field of food quality testing, ensuring its safety and freedom from toxicity. Al Bashiri also inaugurated the operation of the solar power plant at the Yemeni Authority for Standards, Metrology and Quality Control, with a capacity of half a megawatt.

During the inauguration, attended by the Authority's deputy directors and department heads, Al Bashiri announced the complete transition of the Yemeni Authority for Standards, Metrology and Quality Control to working with alternative energy. He affirmed that this important step will secure the energy source for the Authority's laboratories and contribute to rationalising expenditure compared to what conventional energy required.
