Low-Pressure System Detected in Southwestern Arabian Sea

Accra:Meteorology and Early Warning officials have reported the presence of a low-pressure area southwest of the Arabian Sea. This finding was based on analysis of weather maps, satellite images, numerical model outputs, and information from the Indian Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre for Tropical Cyclones.

According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin predicts that this system could develop into a tropical depression within the next 12 hours, moving west-northwest from its current position. Thunderstorms with varying intensity and strong downdraft winds are expected over the Socotra Archipelago over the next two days, with potential impacts extending to the Gulf of Aden and nearby coastal and inland areas.

Wind speeds are anticipated to range from 18 to 28 knots, likely leading to high waves and rough seas around the Socotra Archipelago. As a precaution, fishermen and ship captains have been advised against sailing in the vicinity of the Socotra Archipelago and the Gulf of Aden. Residents of the Socotra Archipelago are also cautioned about thunderstorms and advised to avoid flood channels.
