Mahweet: Governor of Mahweet Hanin Qatina and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works for the Roads Sector Engineer Nabil al-Haifi inspected on Thursday the progress of maintenance and asphalt rehabilitation projects on the strategic Al-Mahwit - Al-Qanawis road.
According to Yemen News Agency, the technical team, led by Engineer Ahmed al-Yanai, explained that the work includes scraping dilapidated sections, repairing rockfall damage, and clearing rainwater drainage channels before laying new asphalt. A key focus is ensuring the road's readiness for the upcoming rainy season by cleaning torrent paths and culverts.
Governor Qatina emphasized that this road is a "vital artery" connecting the governorate to coastal regions, facilitating the movement of citizens and the transport of goods. He noted that these repairs would reduce traffic accidents and lower vehicle maintenance costs for citizens.
Engineer al-Haifi added that the Road Maintenance Fund is following a comprehensive strategy to preserve the national road network, prevent deterioration, and extend the lifespan of primary highways through routine and emergency interventions.
