Beirut: Researcher Majid Ahmed Yahiya Al-Washali obtained a PhD in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Islamic University of Lebanon for his thesis entitled "Yemen in its Regional Environment: Between Integration and Dependency, 1970-2020."
According to Yemen News Agency, the thesis discussed the foundations, concepts, and theories of the study from historical, geographical, legal, and political perspectives. It also addressed Yemen's borders with neighboring countries, focusing on the Gulf states and the Horn of Africa, examining issues of recognition and denial.
The thesis further explored political, diplomatic, security, and military developments and tensions. It highlighted key stages of integration and dependency, as well as conflicts and disagreements from 1970 to 2020.
The academic discussion committee for this thesis included Dr. Ahmed Meli as supervisor and chairman, Dr. Muhammad Issa Abdullah as the first reader, Dr. Hassan Al-Ashmar as the second reader, Dr. Laure Abi Khalil as a member, and Dr. Adel Khalifa as a member.
