Sana'a: A training course on document preservation and archiving began today in Sana'a, engaging 50 trainees from the Ministry of Oil and Minerals' staff. This five-day course is organized by the Ministry of Oil in collaboration with the National Center for Documents. It seeks to equip participants with essential skills in document preservation, archiving, and management, aligning with best practices.
According to Yemen News Agency, the course was inaugurated by the Minister of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Abdullah Al-Amir, who highlighted its significance in enhancing institutional performance and administrative efficiency. The initiative is part of the Ministry's broader vision to achieve digital transformation and automate work processes, in tune with modern management requirements.
Dr. Al-Amir emphasized the pivotal role of document management as a foundational element for institutional success, rights preservation, and informed decision-making. He noted that effective document management also underpins transparency and governance, and is crucial for any digital transformation initiative.
The Minister reiterated the Ministry's dedication to modernizing administrative systems through an integrated project aimed at work automation and digital transition, focusing on electronic archiving in response to technological advancements. He encouraged trainees to leverage the course as a practical step towards adopting best practices in document management, thereby enhancing efficiency across the Ministry's sectors.
Present at the opening were Deputy Minister of Oil, Nasser Al-Aji, Assistant Deputy Minister for Mineral Affairs, Dr. Yahya Al-A'jam, and the Deputy Director of the National Center for Documents, Dr. Fouad Al-Shami. Dr. Al-Shami highlighted the course's alignment with the Center's commitment to advancing documentation and archiving processes, recognizing the Ministry of Oil as a leader in staff qualification in this domain.
He underscored the Center's dedication to refining trainees' skills and enhancing their capacity to preserve and archive crucial documents of Yemen's modern history, especially those related to local administrative system changes. The course emphasizes adopting technical standards in coding, preservation, archiving, and documentation.
