Martyr Leader Football Tournament Concludes in Wahda District, Sana’a City

Sana'a: The Martyr Leader Sayyid Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi Football Tournament for the youth and junior categories in Al-Wahda District, Sana'a City, concluded.

According to Yemen News Agency, the tournament was organized by the Youth and Sports Office in Al-Wahda district in partnership with a local company and saw the participation of 150 athletes representing 16 teams from various neighborhoods and districts within the district. Over the course of 15 days, the Al-Asri team emerged victorious in both the youth and junior categories, defeating the Al-Siddiq team 4-1 and 4-2, respectively.

During the closing ceremony, Zaid Jahhaf, Deputy Director of the Youth and Sports Office in Sana'a City, and district director Sami Humaid highlighted the tournament's aim to encourage emerging talents and motivate them to participate in such sporting events. They noted that these activities help hone skills, provide exposure, and enable participants to showcase their abilities.

Humaid emphasized the commitment to implementing the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the Supreme Political Council, focusing on the importance of sports activities and encouraging youth participation. He stated that the youth represent a foundation for building a generation with a faith-based identity and sound Islamic values. Al-And Al-Haimi, Director of the Youth and Sports Office in the district, affirmed that organizing these activities supports athletes and youth while promoting sports. He commended the district leadership's interest and the General Mobilization's support for the championship and initiatives that aid the development of the sports and community movement.

Al-Haimi also noted that holding events in honor of the martyred leader pays tribute to his sacrifices for the nation's dignity. He explained the significance of these activities in strengthening the youth's connection to Sayyid Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi and his Quranic project.

The championship concluded with local, executive, and mobilization leaders, as well as youth and sports figures, honoring the winners in the junior and youth categories with the championship cup and medals.
