Sana'a: Thousands of people gathered in the city of Ibb on Monday for a mass rally and protest in Al-Rasoul Al-Aadham Square to condemn what participants described as the Saudi attack on Sana'a International Airport. The rally was attended by Ibb Governor Abdulwahed Salah, members of Parliament and the Shura Council, Assistant Commander of the Fourth Military Region Brig. Gen. Mohammed Al-Khaled, local officials, military and security leaders, tribal sheikhs, and community figures.
According to Yemen News Agency, participants renewed their authorization for the leadership to take what they described as appropriate measures in response to the attack and to break the blockade imposed on Yemen until it is fully lifted. They said the targeting of Sana'a International Airport constituted an attack on a civilian service facility, a violation of international laws and norms, reflecting continued escalation against the Yemeni people and depriving them of their humanitarian rights.
The participants also pledged to continue mobilization and maintain a high level of readiness in preparation for what they called the battle to end the blockade and aggression, defend Yemen's sovereignty and independence, and stressed that attempts to undermine the Yemeni people's resolve would fail due to continued public unity. Governor Salah said the large turnout reflected public support for the leadership and strong rejection of attacks on civilian facilities, particularly Sana'a International Airport, which he described as a vital humanitarian and service lifeline.
He added that despite years of war and blockade, the Yemeni people had demonstrated resilience and determination, stressing that such attacks would only strengthen their resolve and national unity. A statement issued at the rally, read by MP Ahmed Al-Nuzaili, described the attack on Sana'a International Airport as a new crime by the Saudi-led aggression against the Yemeni people and a clear violation of international law.
The statement held the Saudi government fully responsible for the humanitarian consequences of continued attacks on civilian facilities and the blockade on Yemen. It also expressed appreciation to the Islamic Republic of Iran for sending an aircraft to Sana'a International Airport, describing the move as an effort to break the blockade, reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and reiterated commitment to what it called the "unity of fronts" against the forces of aggression.
The statement concluded by reaffirming continued resilience, authorizing the leadership to take appropriate measures in response to the attack, and calling for stronger national unity and continued mobilization to safeguard Yemen's sovereignty and independence.
