Mahweet: Residents of Shibam Kawkaban, al-Tawilah, Hufash, al-Khabt, Bani Saad, and Malahan organized on Thursday a large rally to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein ibn Ali under the slogan "Far From Us Is Humiliation."
According to Yemen News Agency, the rally was attended by governorate deputies, local, executive, and security officials, district directors, tribal sheikhs, dignitaries, and community leaders. Participants carried banners highlighting the significance of the occasion and chanted slogans affirming their commitment to following Imam Hussein's path in confronting injustice and tyranny and upholding the values of dignity, honor, and freedom.
Participants stated that commemorating Imam Hussein's martyrdom serves as a spiritual and educational occasion to draw lessons from his enduring revolution, which they said embodied the highest ideals of sacrifice, steadfastness, and resistance to oppression. They described his legacy as a continuing source of inspiration for advocates of freedom and justice.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of the commemoration in reinforcing the values of resilience, sacrifice, and support for causes viewed as just. They noted that the tragedy of Karbala remains a symbol of the suffering endured by Imam Hussein and his family.
The speeches also drew parallels between the events of Karbala and the hardships faced by the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples, including conflict, blockade, and humanitarian challenges. Speakers criticized the policies of the United States and Israel, accusing them of targeting peoples seeking freedom and independence.
Participants reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people and their resistance, describing this position as rooted in religious, moral, and humanitarian principles and in their belief in the justice of the Palestinian cause.
The rally described the commemoration as an expression of loyalty to the family of the Prophet Muhammad and a reaffirmation of their commitment to the principles of supporting truth, confronting falsehood, and resisting oppression.
Participants also reiterated their readiness to respond to current challenges and to defend Yemen's sovereignty, independence, and national interests. They pledged to continue public mobilization efforts, awareness programs, training activities, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening preparedness.
The gathering concluded by affirming that the Yemeni people would remain committed to the principles embodied by Imam Hussein and would continue pursuing dignity, independence, and national sovereignty despite ongoing challenges.
