Sanaa: Ambassador Ismail al-Mutawakil, Undersecretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met on Tuesday with Christine Schiphol, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation, to discuss the ICRC's activities in Yemen. The meeting addressed the progress of the ICRC's humanitarian and medical interventions, its program priorities during the current phase, and its areas of intervention, particularly in relief and health, as well as its efforts to respond to the growing humanitarian needs in various governorates.
According to Yemen News Agency, the ambassador commended the ICRC's humanitarian role and expressed his appreciation for its ongoing cooperation in implementing priority humanitarian projects. He emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, represented by the International Cooperation Sector, and the ICRC, to enhance the effectiveness of the humanitarian response.
The Undersecretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the keenness of relevant authorities to facilitate the work of the committee and overcome any difficulties it may face, enabling it to carry out its humanitarian tasks optimally. For her part, Christine Schiphola affirmed the International Committee of the Red Cross's commitment to continuing its humanitarian efforts in Yemen, stressing that the committee will spare no effort in alleviating the severity of the humanitarian crisis and strengthening its interventions to meet the most urgent needs.
