Paris: A meeting held in Ibb Governorate on Wednesday, chaired by the Acting Prime Minister, Allama Mohammed Miftah, approved the implementation and maintenance of four strategic and vital road projects at a total cost of four billion and 500 million riyals.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by key officials including the Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qaheem, Ibb Governor Abdulwahid Salah, and others, emphasized the significance of these projects. The initiatives aim to rehabilitate the main entrances of the governorate and enhance the main road network linking Ibb Governorate with other regions.
The approved projects comprise four critical road routes. The first project focuses on the maintenance and rehabilitation of the strategic Western Thirtieth Street, with funding equally shared by the local authority and the Road Maintenance Fund. The second project involves comprehensive maintenance and rehabilitation of the main street in the city. The third project targets completing maintenance and restoration works for the 'Ibb - Al-'Udayn' road. The fourth project, fully funded by the Road Maintenance Fund, includes the maintenance and rehabilitation of the main road 'Taiz - Souq Shaban - Al-Najd Al-Ahmar'.
Following the meeting, Allama Miftah and his delegation inspected several streets and main entrances in the governorate center to assess damage and urgent maintenance needs, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate traffic flow. Miftah highlighted that these projects align with the Government of Change and Construction's directives, emphasizing Ibb Governorate's importance due to its geographical location and population density.
Minister Qaheem stated that the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, through the Public Corporation for Roads, is committed to mobilizing necessary resources and adhering to technical standards to ensure project sustainability. He noted the successful coordination between the Fund and the local authority in implementing development projects.
Governor Salah expressed gratitude for the leadership's support and highlighted the importance of service projects in alleviating citizens' suffering and facilitating movement between Ibb and other governorates.
Eng. Al-Haifi confirmed that work will commence next month according to the planned phases, with ongoing efforts to complete current works. The meeting also included participation from officials such as Eng. Ibrahim Al-Shami and Eng. Diaa Abdullah Mohsen, alongside other engineers and officials from relevant entities.
