Sana'a: This year, summer courses for girls in the Capital Secretariat are witnessing significant momentum in preparing youth in a sound manner based on the Quranic approach and correct religious principles, contributing to building a generation equipped with a faith-based identity targeted by adversaries.
According to Yemen News Agency, the growing turnout and engagement in these courses, along with the benefits gained from their activities and programs, reflect an advanced level of societal awareness of their importance, and an increasing commitment to safeguarding youth from cultural infiltration, misconceptions, foreign ideas, moral deviation, religious distortion, and soft warfare.
These summer courses, launched in response to a call by the Revolution Leader, Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, represent a roadmap within an educational strategy aimed at protecting children from loss and developing their understanding by making productive use of vacation time. They help enhance students' abilities and talents while equipping them with beneficial scientific and cultural knowledge at both individual and societal levels.
The impact of these courses is evident in engaging students and protecting them from idleness during the summer break through purposeful programs and diverse activities that aim to build a generation that embodies the culture of the Quran in both word and practice, and reflects faith-based values in behavior and daily life.
As part of religious and national responsibility toward future generations, the subcommittee for girls' summer activities and courses is making significant efforts to ensure the success of these programs and translate leadership directives into practical reality that enhances societal awareness.
Despite economic challenges and the repercussions of ongoing conflict over the years, the summer courses continue to receive increasing official and community attention, given the responsibilities of the current phase that require caring for youth and equipping them with correct knowledge and divine guidance.
The plan of the Supreme Committee for Summer Courses, along with rising community awareness, has contributed to increasing enrollment rates across various districts and expanding the number of schools receiving female students. According to a report issued by the subcommittee for activities and summer courses in the Secretariat, the total number of enrolled female students across all districts reached 50,561, distributed across 499 centers, with 4,548 staff members involved.
The report indicated that 48,218 students are enrolled in regular schools, while 2,343 are enrolled in scouting schools. The head of the subcommittee for girls' summer courses in the Secretariat, Ibtisam Al-Mahtouri, praised the high level of interaction with the activities and the noticeable turnout, emphasizing their role in acquiring beneficial knowledge, instilling faith-based values, and strengthening identity and national belonging.
She noted that enrollment rates have increased compared to last year, reflecting growing awareness of their importance and families' keenness to invest their daughters' free time in beneficial activities, as well as to nurture talents and creativity in various fields.
Al-Mahtouri expressed pride in this year's performance, affirming that the increase reflects awareness among parents and society of the importance of these courses in protecting girls, developing their skills, refining their abilities, and discovering their talents. She called for continued awareness efforts and strengthening the community presence of these courses, given their vital role in building an enlightened generation guided by divine teachings and protected from intellectual deviation and foreign influences.
She also praised the integration of efforts between educational and community cadres, the role of executive committees in districts, and the contribution of school administrations in activating activities, enhancing the achievement of the educational and awareness goals of the summer courses.
The summer courses are distinguished by the diversity of their activities, following a comprehensive plan that includes religious programs, Quran teaching circles, cultural and educational lessons, as well as sports and recreational activities, competitions, and creative fields such as theater and poetry, all contributing to developing students' abilities and expanding their understanding.
Activities also include teaching language skills, general knowledge, agricultural work, handicrafts, community service, charitable work, in addition to trips, exhibitions, and innovations, within a framework aimed at building a well-rounded personality combining awareness, knowledge, and skills.
The deputy head of the subcommittee, Ibtisam Al-Ansi, stated that this year's summer courses vary between scouting and specialized centers, based on a well-studied plan that meets students' needs and keeps pace with current demands, noting that the level of engagement reflects the success of these programs in achieving their educational and awareness objectives.
The results achieved in recent weeks confirm that organized work and coordination among relevant entities create a positive and sustainable impact in raising generations. Accordingly, there is a continued need to support and strengthen these courses to ensure the continuity of their educational mission and contribute to preparing girls who possess awareness, knowledge, and the ability to actively contribute to building society and serving the home.
