Al-khawkhah: A meeting held today in Al-Khawkhah city in Hodeidah Governorate, chaired by the head of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea, Hussein Al-Attas, discussed the progress of the work of the field teams tasked with assessing the conditions of fish landing centers in the liberated areas, inventorying their needs, and addressing the issues of fishermen and workers in the fisheries sector.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included directors-general of ports and centers Aziz Atini, Planning and Development at the Authority Mohammed Al-Tayeb, Resources Anas Al-Sabri, Follow-up Bandar Al-Rubai, and several members of the field teams. It reviewed the level of achievement in assessing the conditions of the centers and their facilities, the damage to infrastructure and services, and the efforts exerted to activate the services provided to fishermen.
Al-Attas emphasized the importance of redoubling efforts to complete the assessment of the needs of the fish landing centers extending along the coastal strip from Al-Khawkhah to Mokha and Bab al-Mandab in Taiz Governorate. He stressed preparing a comprehensive technical study of the needs as a prelude to addressing them in coordination with the local authority and relevant authorities, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
He noted the importance of continuing work to activate the cadres in the fish centers, normalize their conditions, and improve the level of services provided to fishermen and workers in the sector. This effort aims to contribute to their sustainability and keep pace with their needs.
The field teams continue their work in inventorying the needs of the fish centers and assessing their conditions, leading to the completion of the needs and submitting them to the competent authorities and working to address them.
