Amran: A meeting in Amran governorate, attended by Governor Dr. Faisal Jumaan and the Head of the Appeals Prosecution Judge Hadi Aida, discussed today the completion of procedures for burying bodies accumulated in the refrigerators of Al Samad Hospital and the Motherhood and Childhood Hospital in the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Governorate Security Director Brigadier Nayef Abu Kharshfa, the Deputy Prosecutor for Security and Investigation Judge Ali Al Kabsi, and the Acting Head of the Criminal Prosecution Judge Ali Atf Allah. The discussions reviewed efforts by the Public Prosecution to address the situation of the accumulated bodies, granting permission to bury 42 bodies of both unidentified and identified persons at state expense.
The meeting highlighted the issue of 97 bodies still pending due to the absence of relatives to claim them, along with 29 bodies related to cases awaiting judicial decisions. Additionally, legal autopsy or notification procedures have not been completed for some bodies.
The necessity to expedite legal and technical procedures was emphasized to resolve overcrowding in hospital refrigerators, ensuring humanitarian and health protocols are followed. The meeting decided to transfer some bodies to private hospital refrigerators to reduce pressure on existing facilities.
The Head of the Prosecution stressed the importance of adhering to applicable laws and directives from the Public Prosecution, aiming to close the case of accumulated bodies while respecting the dignity of the deceased and their families' rights.
Governor Jumaan expressed the commitment of the local authority to support the Public Prosecution and security agencies, facilitating the completion of necessary procedures and overcoming challenges.
