Meeting in Taiz Discusses Mechanisms to Enhance Developmental Role of Sharab Al-Salam Cooperative Association

Taiz: A developmental meeting was held today in Sharab Al-Salam District, Taiz Governorate, chaired by Deputy Governor for Development Affairs Abdulwasa Al-Shamsi, to discuss mechanisms for revitalizing the role of the Sharab Al-Salam Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association and strengthening its contribution to agricultural development.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by District Director Ahmed Al-Qaisi, Head of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit Hussein Al-Rashdi, Bonyan Foundation Coordinator Eyad Awhaj, and Executive Director of the Agricultural Cooperative Union Branch Amer Al-Ahdal. Discussions focused on expanding developmental activities, activating regular meetings of the administrative and executive bodies, and boosting coordination between the district's Agriculture Office and the cooperative association.

Participants, including Association Chairman Mohammed Al-Hashash, Executive Director Abdulaziz Abdulsalam, Secretary-General Badi' Al-Shakri, board members, and unit representatives, emphasized the need for long-term executive plans, improving administrative and financial systems, and broadening community participation.

The meeting also stressed the importance of empowering all board members and activating the association's operational units according to field needs. Additional topics included submitting requirements for coffee seedlings and training requests for veterinary health workers. The preparation of studies for the Agricultural Services Center and Veterinary Clinic, and compiling a matrix of priority community initiatives based on value chain needs were also discussed.

Attendees agreed to survey all tractors in the district and sign contracts with owners at reduced rates, while allowing the association to apply for a diesel loan from the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects Financing Unit to support the initiative.
