Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a forecast predicting thunderstorms and high-speed winds across several governorates in the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center's weather bulletin indicates that thunderstorms, which may vary in intensity and be accompanied by hail, are anticipated in the governorates of Saada, Amran, Dhamar, Ibb, Al-Dhalea, Al-Bayda, Taiz, Lahj, Shabwah, Hadramout, and Al-Mahrah. Additionally, scattered rain, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is expected in parts of the governorates of Sana'a, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, and Raymah, extending to the internal plateaus and the deserts of Al-Jawf and Marib.
Furthermore, there is a possibility of scattered rain along the western coast, Bab al-Mandab, and the southern and eastern coasts. High-speed winds are predicted to stir up dust and sands particularly in the governorates of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, and Shabwah. The center also noted that downdraft winds from cumulonimbus clouds may cause dust and sand to be stirred in open areas.
The center has issued warnings to residents in areas likely to experience rainfall about the potential for flash floods in valleys and ravines. It is advised to avoid being present in these areas or crossing them during and after rainfall. Additionally, the center cautioned the elderly, children, and asthma patients to avoid exposure to dust and sands for health reasons.
Vehicle drivers have been advised to be vigilant due to reduced horizontal visibility on roads, mountain slopes, and desert areas caused by low clouds, fog, dust, and sands. The center also warned against crossing ground bridges during flood flows and highlighted the risk of rockslides.
