Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecasted varying-intensity and scattered thundery rainfall over several governorates within the next 24 hours. According to Yemen News Agency, the center's weather bulletin predicts moderate to heavy thundery rainfall accompanied by strong downdraft winds and occasional hail. The affected areas include the governorates of Al-Bayda, Abyan, Lahj, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, and Hajjah, along with parts of the Tihama Plain and the western coast.
Scattered thunderstorms and rainfall may also impact parts of Saada, Amran, Sana'a, and Aden, as well as the highlands and deserts of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Shabwah, and Marib. The center has issued warnings to citizens about the potential for sudden floods in ravines and valleys, advising against being in their paths during and after rainfall. Drivers are cautioned not to cross ground-level bridges during floods due to the risk of reduced horizontal visibility on roads and mountain slopes caused by the rainfall and fog.
The public is advised to avoid high places and remain clear of metal structures and tall trees during thunderstorms. The center also recommends disconnecting electricity supplies, refraining from using mobile phones, and staying away from water to ensure safety. It has urged the relevant authorities to implement measures to safeguard both lives and property.
