Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecasted varying-intensity and scattered thunderstorms over seven governorates and parts of other governorates during the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin issued by the center indicates that varying-intensity thunderstorms, accompanied by strong downdraft winds and occasional hail, are expected over the governorates of Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, and Hajjah, as well as parts of Sana'a, Amran, Saada, the Tihama Plain, and the western coasts.
Scattered rainfall, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is also likely over the highlands of the governorates of Lahj, Abyan, Al-Bayda, and Shabwah.
The center has issued warnings to citizens to avoid being present in ravines, valleys, and flood channels during and after rainfall. Drivers have been advised against crossing ground-level bridges during floods.
Further warnings include the risk of thunderstorms and the associated dangers of being near elevated areas, trees, and metal structures that can attract lightning. Precautions such as not using mobile phones, disconnecting the electrical power supply, and staying away from water have been advised to preserve lives.
Additionally, the center warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to rainfall and fog formation on roads and mountainous slopes.
