Meteorology Forecasts Heavy Rainfall of Varied Intensity in Coming Hours

Sanaa: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expects continued rainfall of varying intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms, across several governorates over the next 24 hours.

According to Yemen News Agency, the center stated in its weather bulletin that rainfall of varying intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail, is expected on the western coasts and the Tihama Plain, from Hajjah in the north to Taiz in the south. Rain will also fall on the western mountain range and the interior plateaus, including the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Mahwit, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Bayda, Dhale'a, Taiz, and Lahj.

Rain is also likely to fall on the southern coasts and adjacent inland areas, as well as the governorates of Jawf, Ma'rib, Shabwah, Hadramaut, and Al Mahrah. Over the past 24 hours, heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms fell on the Tihama Plain and the western coasts. The highest rainfall amount, 92 millimeters, was recorded in Al-Kadan in Hodeida Governorate and Abs in Hajjah Governorate.

Rainfall of varying intensity, some heavy, also fell on parts of the western highlands, the interior plateaus, the southern coasts, and the deserts. The center warned citizens to avoid valleys and flood channels, and to avoid thunderstorms, strong downdrafts, hail, soil erosion, and rockfalls.

It also warned of poor visibility on roads and mountainous areas due to dense cloud cover, rain, and the formation of fog or water mist. It advised citizens to follow safety measures to prevent thunderstorms and to stay away from unstable slopes. It called on relevant authorities to take the necessary precautionary measures to protect lives and property.
