Sana'a: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expects varying and scattered thunderstorms in a number of governorates over the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center's weather bulletin forecasts thunderstorms of varying intensity, accompanied by hail and strong downdraft winds, in the governorates of Hadramout, Shabwa, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Sana'a, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, Amran, Saada, and parts of the Tihama Plain.
Scattered rains, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, are also likely in areas of the governorates of Lahj, Abyan, Al-Bayda, and the highlands and deserts of Al-Jawf, Marib, and Al-Mahrah. These weather conditions may also impact parts of the western, southern, and eastern coastal areas.
The center issued warnings to citizens about the sudden flow of floods in ravines and valleys, advising against presence in these areas or attempting to cross them during and after rainfall. Citizens were also cautioned about the dangers of thunderstorms, hail, and strong downdraft winds, and advised to avoid elevated areas, towers, tall trees, and using mobile phones during such weather.
Additionally, the center highlighted the risks of rockfalls and mudslides, particularly on slopes and mountain roads, as well as potential collapses of buildings and traditional mud-brick forts due to ongoing rainfall. It urged relevant authorities to implement precautionary measures to protect lives and property.
