Sana'a: The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast varying-intensity and scattered thunderstorms over a number of governorates during the next 24 hours. According to Yemen News Agency, the weather bulletin from the center indicates that thunderstorms of varying intensity, accompanied by downdraft winds and occasional hail, are likely to occur over the governorates of Taiz, Al-Dhalea, Ibb, Al-Bayda, Dhamar, Raymah, Sana'a, Al-Mahwit, Amran, Hajjah, and Saada, as well as parts of the Tihama Plain and the western coast.
Scattered rain, which may be accompanied by thunder, is expected over the highlands of Lahj and Abyan and parts of Shabwah, Hadramout, and Al-Mahrah. The center has warned citizens of the sudden flow of flash floods in ravines and valleys, advising against being present in their paths or attempting to cross them during and after rainfall.
The center has also highlighted the risks posed by thunderstorms and downdraft winds, advising people to avoid high places and tall trees, refrain from using mobile phones, and ensure that electricity supplies are disconnected during thunderstorms. Reduced horizontal visibility on roads, mountain slopes, and coastal plains can be expected due to rainfall and fog formation. Additionally, rockfalls and mudslides on mountain roads are possible due to the continuous rainfall.
The center has urged the competent authorities to implement necessary measures to preserve lives and property.
