Sana'a: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has issued a forecast predicting scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity across several governorates over the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meteorological bulletin indicates that regions within the governorates of Al Mahrah, Hadramaut, Ma'rib, Jawf, Saada, Amran, Hajjah, Mahwit, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, and Dhale'a are likely to experience thunderstorms of varying intensity.
In addition, scattered rain, potentially accompanied by thunder, is anticipated in parts of the governorates of Shabwah, Bayda, Sana'a, Hodeida, as well as the highlands of Abyan and Lahj governorates. Eastern and southern coastal areas, along with corresponding inland regions, may also experience rainfall.
The center has cautioned citizens about the dangers associated with thunderstorms, advising against staying in flood-prone areas or attempting to cross them during and after rainfall. There are also warnings about the potential for strong downdrafts and hail, as well as rockfalls and mudslides on mountain slopes and roads.
Further, there are risks of building collapses, particularly traditional mud structures, due to continued rainfall. The center has also highlighted concerns about reduced horizontal visibility on roads and mountain slopes, which could be affected by low cloud cover, fog, and rainfall.
