Minister of Finance Visits Tax and Customs Authorities to Discuss Integration and Economic Growth

Sana'a: Minister of Finance Abduljabbar Ahmed visited the Tax and Customs Authorities today. During the visit, accompanied by Deputy Minister Nasser Al-Hamdani, the Minister reviewed operations in several general departments within the authority in light of the ongoing integration of the two agencies.

According to Yemen News Agency, specialists at the authority briefed him on the progress of the merger and the procedural steps being implemented. Minister Abduljabbar stressed the importance of joint efforts and teamwork to achieve the main goals of the integration, namely simplifying and streamlining procedures and improving the quality of services provided to citizens. He noted that the coming period will see various activities and workshops aimed at accelerating the completion of the merger.

Later, the Minister and his deputy met with the leadership of the authority and the Sana'a Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting discussed issues related to cooperation between the authority and the taxpayer community, particularly merchants. Plans for coordination and integration between tax administration and taxpayers were reviewed to improve dealings, reduce time and effort in collecting tax and customs revenues, and support the national economy.

The discussion also addressed efforts to promote and encourage local production and reduce import bills, in line with the economic directives of the Leader. The meeting underscored the importance of fostering a production culture for a wide range of goods that can be manufactured locally at much lower costs than importing them. It emphasized that building a genuine partnership between the government and the private sector will help establish a strong economy based on principles that ensure sustainable development and strengthen self-sufficiency, especially given the promising investment opportunities across various sectors.
