Sana'a: Sana'a governorate on Wednesday hosted a series of cultural events and evening gatherings to celebrate the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him and his family) birthday.
According to Yemen News Agency, in Arhab district, a cultural evening was held in the village of 'Madr,' al-Khamis sub-district, attended by province undersecretary Mohsen Abu Hadi and several local sheikhs and dignitaries. Khalid al-Oqaidah, Director of the district, highlighted that commemorating the Prophet's birthday reflects the Yemeni people's loyalty to God, His Messenger, and the household of prophethood. The event underscored Yemenis' support for the Palestinian people against what they perceive as forces of global arrogance, represented by the U.S. and Israel. Speeches emphasized educating younger generations about the Prophet's life and confronting attempts to undermine the nation's symbols and sacred values.
In the Hamdan district, various offices including Finance, Social Affairs, Civil Status, Guidance, Tourism, and the General Endowments Authority organized a commemorative event. Cultural activist Hamdan Askar stressed the significance of the occasion for Yemenis, highlighting its role in strengthening adherence to the Prophet's guidance. Civil Status Director Colonel Zahra remarked that celebrating the Prophet's birthday is a devotional act that honors and emulates the Prophet in speech, action, and behavior.
Bilad al-Rus district hosted two cultural evenings in the Al-Lahf and 'Allan wa Saadan areas, where Ahmad Al-Yassani, responsible for public mobilization, described the occasion as a spiritual milestone reinforcing resilience and unity, instilling love and reverence for the Prophet.
In Manakha district, cultural and lecture events took place across several sub-districts including Bani Khattab, Bani Ismail, Da'wa, and western Hisban. Participants highlighted the importance of strengthening religious awareness and loyalty to God and His Messenger, citing the Quranic verse: 'Say, [O believers], by the grace of Allah and His mercy, in that let them rejoice'.
Similar events were organized in al-Tiyal district across sub-districts such as al-Hasanin, al-Wadi, al-Qurawiyah al-Ulya, al-Sahman, al-Sahamiya, and Jabal al-Lawz, focusing on the Prophet's guidance, mercy, and ethical teachings.
Districts including Sufan, Juhana, Bani Dhabyan, Bilad al-Rus, al-Haymah al-Dakhiliyah, and Bani Bahloul also hosted student activities and cultural evenings. These events underlined the importance of broad participation in the celebrations, reflecting a deep connection with the Prophet and defiance against perceived enemies and hypocrites.
Speakers noted that the Prophet's birthday offers an opportunity to instill love for him in younger generations, protect them from misleading cultures, reinforce religious identity, and strengthen community values. Participants concluded that celebrating the occasion demonstrates gratitude for God's blessings, preserves the nation's heritage and identity, and serves as a source of strength, pride, and resilience.
