Taiz:The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has strongly condemned the recent Saudi-led airstrike that targeted a popular market in the Al-Wazi'iyah district of Taiz governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Ministry described the attack as a severe escalation by the Saudi-led forces, resulting in more than 38 civilian casualties, including both fatalities and injuries, based on a preliminary report. The assault also claimed the lives of several livestock and sheep.
The Ministry's statement labeled the attack on the market and civilian infrastructure as a war crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian laws and charters. It emphasized that such actions demonstrate a systematic intent to harm civilians and disrupt their livelihoods.
Furthermore, the Ministry highlighted that bombing civilian infrastructure and essential markets poses a direct threat to food security and the economic and daily livelihood activities of the local population. It also noted the extensive losses and challenges inflicted on the agricultural, fisheries, and other productive sectors by the aggressor.
The Ministry urged the international community, along with UN and human rights organizations, to denounce these criminal acts and to take responsibility by halting the targeting of civilians, markets, service and production facilities, and the sources of people's livelihoods.
