Sanaa:Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council, has voiced criticism of the Saudi Foreign Ministry's statement concerning its defense minister's visit to Tehran. He contends that the ministry's claims of seeking to reduce regional tensions contradict the ongoing military actions and blockade against Yemen, which have persisted since 2015.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Houthi highlighted the disparity between Saudi Arabia's proclaimed role in stabilizing regional security and its actions involving escalation, siege, and occupation in Yemen. He emphasized the need for Saudi Arabia to cease its aggression, lift the blockade on the Yemeni people, and withdraw its forces from Yemen to genuinely contribute to peace efforts.
Al-Houthi also addressed the broader geopolitical dynamics, suggesting that Saudi Arabia's alliances and military campaigns are not only detrimental to Yemen but also serve broader interests aligned with Israel. He expressed concerns about the Egyptian regime's support for Saudi actions, viewing it as potentially harmful to Egypt's own security and beneficial to Israeli objectives.
He reiterated Yemen's stance that the cessation of aggression and the lifting of the siege are crucial steps toward resolving the conflict. Al-Houthi stressed that Yemen seeks peace and is not a threat to regional stability, but rather an advocate for freedom and independence. He called for regional cooperation to focus on genuine reconciliation and liberation from external hegemony to achieve lasting peace.
