Sana'a: Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council, stated that the martyr of the Quran, Sayyed Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi, presented a different interpretation of the Karbala tragedy, considering it a model of the consequences of neglecting awareness and its impact on creating historical transformations and tragedies. He also described it as a renewed call to return to the Holy Quran and history to build insight and draw lessons before it is too late.
According to Yemen News Agency, this perspective was elaborated in a newspaper article by Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, published on Tuesday in the Saba News Agency's Al-Siyasiya newspaper. The article, titled "Karbala Is Not Just for Mourning... But for Uncovering the Causes That Created the Tragedy and Reproduce It in Every Era," emphasized that the martyr of the Quran's interpretation does not stop at merely recalling the past. Instead, it stems from a historical perspective that sees major events not as repetitions with the same individuals, but rather as occurrences driven by underlying causes and psychological and social conditions.
Al-Houthi explained that, in the vision of the martyred leader, Karbala transcends an occasion for mourning. While grief for Imam Hussein and his family is acknowledged as a human and faith-based stance, Karbala is portrayed as a school of awareness and a project for understanding divine laws. It serves as a constant warning to the nation against the pitfalls of negligence after the advent of divine proof and the dangers of waiting until tragedies become tangible.
One of the most prominent features of the martyred leader's interpretation is the treatment of Karbala's events not as isolated incidents but as part of the divine laws that govern the rise and fall of nations, and the triumph of truth or the dominance of falsehood at specific historical junctures. Al-Houthi noted that the interpretation represents a comprehensive intellectual project for rebuilding Islamic historical consciousness, focusing on four fundamental pillars: identifying negligence as the primary cause of tragedy, understanding recurring historical patterns, warning against belated awareness that leads to regret, and returning to the Holy Quran as the ultimate authority for understanding reality.
He further added that in this reading, Karbala is not a closed event or merely an emotional occasion. Instead, it is an ongoing school for testing the nation's ability to learn from history, discover causes before consequences occur, and act before awareness turns to sorrow and regret to a feeling that cannot undo what has passed.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi emphasized the necessity of returning to the lessons of the martyr of the Quran and studying them deeply to establish a solid foundation. He advocates for a conscious, practical movement that enables the nation to confront tyrants and oppressors, drawing inspiration from every event to fuel its movement towards liberation from injustice and the attainment of justice under unified leadership. This, he asserted, is the correct path to follow for living a life aligned with the principles of one nation and one direction.
