Sana'a:A meeting led by Deputy Minister of Local and Rural Administration and Development, Nasser Al-Mahdhar, took place on Monday to discuss ways to streamline the collection of qat sales tax and boost local revenues.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included Ali Hatem, director of the Executive Unit for Qat Sales Tax Collection, as well as ministry and unit officials. The attendees reviewed the coordination between the unit and local authorities in various governorates and districts, focusing on the challenges faced during field collection operations.
Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the ministry, the executive unit, and local authorities to tackle the obstacles encountered by field teams. They aimed to facilitate the teams' efforts and ensure more efficient and consistent tax collection processes.
The meeting concluded with calls for improved monitoring mechanisms and an enhanced role for administrative units in organizing collection activities. The goals include increasing local resources, improving their management and allocation, and financing local and rural development projects to enhance public services.
