Sana'a: The efforts of the Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment in Sana'a Governorate culminated during the year 2025 in the construction of an effective oversight system. This system aims to stimulate investment, support local products, enhance food security, and provide services across various commercial and industrial activities.
According to Yemen News Agency, in line with the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, to build a modern Yemeni state, and in pursuit of the goals of the "Government of Change and Construction," the Office contributed to strengthening oversight across commercial and industrial sectors. This includes transitioning to automated electronic services and creating a secure investment environment that supports domestic manufacturing and ensures the food security of essential commodities.
Due to its unique geography, Sana'a Governorate has become a central hub for investment, witnessing significant growth in various industries. This progress is reflected in the designation of industrial complexes and the encouragement of investors through the presentation of promising local opportunities. Furthermore, to achieve self-sufficiency, promotional exhibitions were organized for productive families.
The Office sought to elevate institutional performance through several key initiatives. This included establishing a network link between the Office and the Governor's General Office to update the taxpayer database, facilitating tracking via automation. It also involved reorganizing the General Administration and its district branches to align with regulatory bylaws, training personnel in "Simplified Procedures," the "Code of Professional Conduct," and "Consumer Protection," and launching an electronic "Public Service Window" to streamline the issuance of Commercial and Industrial Registry licenses, ensuring speed, transparency, and "single-window" efficiency.
Following the leadership's directives for economic empowerment, the Office implemented several strategic steps such as granting procurement preference to national products in government procurement, protecting local goods from unfair competition through an executive plan coordinated with relevant authorities, and attracting industrial investment by granting license fee exemptions and providing technical consultations. The Office also promoted boycott campaigns by distributing approximately 10,000 posters and brochures to promote the boycott of companies supporting the Zionist entity and visiting 173 industrial facilities to address challenges and encourage the production of high-quality local alternatives.
The Office developed an executive plan to integrate agricultural development with supply chain support. This aims to empower the local community to contribute to a diversified economy based on sustainable agriculture and food processing, ultimately aiming for self-sufficiency and job creation. Within this framework, small and medium industrial complexes were identified, and community initiatives and cooperatives were supported.
An effective monitoring system was implemented to track the prices of basic commodities and monitor food stocks in wholesalers' warehouses weekly. In 2025, 23,365 field visits were conducted, with 18,039 facilities found to be compliant. However, 2,273 seizure reports were filed, covering 2,424 violations, including cases of failure to display prices, price hikes, underweight bread, and expired goods. Legal actions included settling 1,334 violations, referring 50 cases to the Public Prosecution, and closing one facility.
Total services for commercial registries reached 971 for the year, including new registrations, renewals, and replacements/modifications. Director of the Office, Fahd Al-Gharbani, emphasized that these achievements resulted from unified teamwork and the support of the local authority. He noted that the Office continues to modernize its performance, strengthening partnerships with the private sector to promote manufacturing and economic empowerment for families, ensuring a sustainable economic future for the nation.
