Sana'a: An official and community-led campaign was launched on Wednesday in al-Qabel village, Bani al-Harith district in the Capital Sana'a to light and rehabilitate the village road in cooperation with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology.
According to Yemen News Agency, Engineer Ismail Hamid al-Din, Director of the Executive Unit for Projects and Construction at the Public Telecommunications Corporation, explained that the initiative includes installing 178 streetlight poles and 20 wall-mounted floodlights to illuminate the village's streets and alleys.
The campaign also covers leveling and compacting the shoulders of main and secondary roads using 100 truckloads of basecourse and sand, in addition to rehabilitating the main asphalt road by filling potholes and re-asphalting damaged sections.
Hamid al-Din added that the initiative included rehabilitating al-Rawd Mosque through painting and supplying new carpets, as well as clearing waste from streets and collection points using heavy equipment. He noted that the initiative comes in response to directives and in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
For his part, neighborhood mobilization official Ibrahim Al-Bu'ani called on residents to actively participate in the cleanliness campaign to help maintain clean streets and markets.
