Sana'a: The National University organized an oratory and commemorative event on Tuesday to mark the 1447 AH annual Martyrs' Day, honoring the families of martyrs among the university staff and graduates of the second-level 'Al-Aqsa Flood' courses. During the event, University President Dr. Fathi Sharwan emphasized the importance of commemorating martyrs to promote a culture of sacrifice and martyrdom, honoring their status and the greatness of their sacrifices in confronting tyrants and oppressors, and remaining loyal to their memory.
According to Yemen News Agency, Media Director at the Higher Education Sector, Yahya Al-Da'ani, noted that Martyrs' Day is not merely a passing occasion but a moment of awareness, insight, and values-a pledge to those whose bodies have departed while their goals continue to illuminate the path for generations, guiding them toward freedom, independence, and support for the oppressed. Al-Da'ani described the commemoration as an annual station to reflect on the nation's memory, written by immortal souls with pure blood, and by men who carried their hearts in their hands and vowed that Yemen would live, even if they themselves departed from life.
He stressed that a martyr is not just a number in a report, a name on a sign, or a picture on a wall, but represents the entire cause of the nation-the protective shield that safeguards the dreams and future of the land and its people. Additionally, the Dean of Student Affairs at the National University, Dr. Abdu Yamani, spoke of the greatness of Jihad and its esteemed status before God as one of the noblest acts of devotion. He affirmed that those who strive in the path of God are among the most honored people, elevated in rank and status, and granted the highest degrees on the Day of Judgment. He emphasized that the Martyrs' Day commemoration is an important occasion to draw determination, awareness, and insight in confronting tyrants and oppressors.
A speech on behalf of the martyrs' families was delivered by Ahmed Al-Arjali, who highlighted the importance of honoring the martyrs' legacy, providing support and care for their families and relatives, and helping them live with dignity in recognition of the martyrs' sacrifices for the homeland. The event, attended by deans, faculty members, and a large gathering of students, included a performance by the 'Legends of Art' troupe, a poem by the poet Ahmed Al-Dailami, and a visual presentation on the School of Martyrdom, followed by the honoring of the martyrs' families and relatives.
