Sanaa: The Yemeni Popular Forces Union strongly condemned the Saudi airstrike that targeted the Central Correctional Facility in Al-Jawf Governorate. In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the union denounced the attack on the facility in Al-Hazm, which initially resulted in 14 inmates being killed or injured, including a child and a woman who were visiting relatives.
According to Yemen News Agency, the union said that targeting prisons and civilian facilities during armed conflicts constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and may amount to war crimes, describing the attack as evidence of brutality and disregard for humanitarian and moral values. The union criticized the Saudi side for continuing to commit such crimes instead of ending its aggression and siege of Yemen, adding that previous attacks have targeted correctional facilities, hospitals, roads, mourning halls, and other civilian sites.
The union called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to act immediately to condemn what it described as the 'brutal aggression,' stressing that such crimes would not deter the Yemeni people from defending themselves and responding through measures adopted by the revolutionary and political leadership.
The Popular Forces Union renewed its support for the measures taken by the revolutionary, political leadership, and the Yemeni Armed Forces in this regard.
