Gaza: The Public Prosecution in Ibb Governorate has released 1,086 prisoners from the Central Correctional Facility and pretrial detention centers in Ibb, Yarim, and Dhi Al-Sufal, in addition to detention facilities at primary prosecution offices, security departments, and police stations.
According to Yemen News Agency, Chief Prosecutor Judge Abdulrahman Al-Nuzaili stated that the release was in line with directives from the Revolution Leader, the President of the Supreme Political Council, the Attorney General, and the prosecution's plan to grant eligible inmates amnesty for the remainder of their sentences on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Judge Al-Nuzaili explained that the release procedures were finalized during field visits to prisons and detention centers in the months of Rajab and Sha'ban by the head and members of the Prisoners' Status Review Committee, led by Sheikh Ali Qirsha, alongside the Chief Prosecutor and deputy prosecutors. The committee focused on cases eligible for amnesty, including those meeting legal requirements for conditional release and without outstanding private rights. Financial obligations for insolvent inmates were either paid by the committee or covered on their behalf, while some releases were mandated with guarantees pursuant to court and prosecution decisions.
The procedures were attended by various local authorities, including the Governor of the Governorate, the Head of the Judicial Inspection Authority branch, the President of the Court of Appeal, the Director of Security, and the Head of the Grievances Authority branch. This reflects cooperation and coordination among authorities to address prisoners' conditions and review existing challenges.
Charitable individuals also contributed by paying financial amounts for inmates unable to pay blood money and court-ordered compensation, facilitating their release. Judge Al-Nuzaili emphasized that the Public Prosecution will continue periodic reviews of prisoner conditions to ensure eligible inmates for amnesty or legal release are not detained.
The Chief Prosecutor urged those released to use this opportunity to reform their lives, reintegrate into society positively, and avoid actions that violate the law. He encouraged taking advantage of Ramadan to purify themselves and strengthen their piety as a safeguard against wrongdoing and reoffending.
