Al-mahwit: The Public Prosecutor, Judge Abdul Salam Al-Houthi, conducted an inspection today of the Central Correctional Facility in Al-Mahwit governorate. This visit is part of the ongoing efforts to release eligible prisoners in celebration of the upcoming Prophet's birthday anniversary.
According to Yemen News Agency, Judge Al-Houthi engaged in discussions with key legal figures including the Head of the Appeals Prosecution in the governorate, Judge Abdulbari Al-Wazir, and Deputy Prosecutors from Al-Mahwit and Al-Rajm, Judge Bakeel Al-Shami, Al-Tawilah, Judge Mohammed Al-Basrawi, and the Prison, Judge Abdullah Al-Sheikh. They provided insights into the cases and the progress of legal procedures concerning the prisoners.
During his visit, Judge Al-Houthi, accompanied by the Directors of the Public Prosecutor's Office, Judge Mohammed Al-Harfi, and Zaid Al-Hamzi from the Branch of the Grievances Redress Authority in the governorate, along with several prosecution specialists, took the opportunity to interview prisoners. The aim was to verify the legal durations of their detention and address any complaints they had.
In response to the information gathered from correctional facility officials regarding the prisoners' conduct and behavior during their incarceration, Judge Al-Houthi ordered the release of those eligible who had served the majority of their sentences. This decision aligns with the directives from the Revolution Leader and the President of the Supreme Political Council.
Judge Al-Houthi emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Grievances Redress Authority, the General Authority for Zakat, and the Public Prosecution. This partnership aims to resolve financial obligations for insolvent prisoners who have already completed their sentence terms. He reaffirmed the Public Prosecution's commitment to regularly monitoring the conditions of central correctional facilities, pretrial detention centers, and detention centers across various governorates to ensure the equitable application of the law.
