Sa'ada: The branch of the Standardization, Metrology, and Quality Control Organization in Sa'ada Governorate initiated a Ramadan field campaign today to conduct supervisory visits to local markets.
According to Yemen News Agency, the field visit saw the participation of key officials, including Deputy Governor Mohammed Al-Ba'dani, Director of the Office of Economy and Investment Khaled Al-Dhiban, and Deputy Prosecutor for Public Funds Judge Mahmoud Al-Alawi. Osama Al-Mu'ayyad, the Director of the branch, elaborated on the campaign's objectives, which include supervising weights and measures, calibrating scales and measuring instruments, and ensuring their adherence to approved standard specifications.
Al-Mu'ayyad also highlighted additional goals of the campaign, such as verifying the prices of food products on display and ensuring compliance with display, handling, and storage methods according to approved technical requirements. These efforts aim to protect consumers from any violating commercial practices during the Ramadan season.
The relevant authorities took the opportunity to explain to traders and shop owners the mechanisms of seizure, impoundment, and the penalties for violations. They stressed the importance of cooperation with supervisory bodies. Officials affirmed that supervisory visits would persist throughout Ramadan, with zero tolerance for any manipulation or fraud in weights or prices, emphasizing that the main goal is to protect citizens and guarantee the availability of food commodities with compliant quality and fair prices.
