Red Crescent Society Concludes First Aid Training Course in Al Hodeidah

Al hodeidah: A training course in first aid was concluded on Thursday in Al Hodeidah, organized by Al Hodeidah branch of the Yemen Red Crescent Society with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

According to Yemen News Agency, the three-day course aimed to provide 100 participants from executive offices, associations, institutions, community groups, people with disabilities, and representatives of several government agencies with practical skills in first aid. The initiative seeks to strengthen initial response capabilities to accidents and emergencies across neighborhoods and districts in the governorate.

At the closing ceremony, Governor Abdullah Atifi stated that organizing the course reflects the governorate leadership's commitment to building the capacities of both community and official personnel in rescue and emergency care. He highlighted the humanitarian role of the Yemen Red Crescent Society and its partners in the health and relief fields, noting that qualifying 100 participants in first aid is an important step toward creating a trained community network capable of responding to emergencies and saving lives during accidents and injuries, especially given the current challenges facing the country.

Atifi praised the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for implementing the training course and expressed hope for the continuation and expansion of such programs to cover more districts, ensuring sustainable impact and enhancing community preparedness for emergencies.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development, Ahmed Hej. Dr. Ali Hizam, Director of the Health Office in the governorate, emphasized that the course outcomes represent an important support to the health sector by providing trained personnel capable of delivering first aid at accident sites. He also commended the ongoing coordination between the Health Office and the Yemen Red Crescent Society in implementing activities and programs aimed at serving citizens.

Jaber Al-Razhi, Director of the Al Hodeidah branch of the Yemen Red Crescent Society, stated that the course is part of a comprehensive program implemented by the branch to raise awareness of first aid among government and community workers as well as field volunteers. He noted that the trainees received both theoretical lessons and intensive practical exercises on proper handling of injuries and accidents.

Al-Razhi added that the Yemen Red Crescent Society will continue to implement similar training programs targeting various groups to expand the base of community first responders and promote a culture of first aid in society, positively contributing to reducing the risks and complications of accidents.
