Rehabilitation Authority and Political Council Discuss Prison Condition Improvements

Sanaa: The President of the Rehabilitation and Reform Authority at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, Major General Ismail Al-Muayyid, engaged in discussions with Sheikh Ali Qarsha, the representative of the Revolution Leader and the President of the Supreme Political Council in the Joint Committee for Addressing Prison Conditions. Their dialogue focused on fostering coordination and cooperation between the Authority and the Committee.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting reviewed the current state of central reformatories and remand prisons across the capital secretariat and various governorates. Discussions centered on the capacity for housing and the care provided to inmates, identifying the necessary improvements required to enhance service delivery.

The meeting also explored rehabilitation programs and behavioral correction activities designed to reintegrate inmates into society upon completing their sentences. It highlighted the importance of adhering to strict protocols for releasing prisoners once their sentences are served and finding solutions for inmates unable to pay fines.

The meeting, which included the Authority's general directors, concluded with an agreement to establish mechanisms aimed at enhancing coordination and cooperation between the Authority and the Committee. This initiative aims to contribute to improved conditions for inmates across various aspects.
