Amran: The Amran Water Basin Committee, led by the governor of the province, Dr. Faisal Ja'man, convened today to deliberate on 19 requests for drilling and deepening water wells across several districts.
According to Yemen News Agency, the committee approved 13 of these requests while rejecting six due to non-compliance with the necessary technical and legal standards. Governor Ja'man emphasized the critical need to take legal measures against violations stemming from unauthorized well drilling, citing the potential risk such actions pose to the Amran water basin. He underscored the necessity of enforcing laws to prevent groundwater depletion.
During the meeting, Engineer Fahd Al-Sufyani, the Director of the Branch of the Authority for Water Resources and Facilities, provided an overview of the license applications received by the branch. He detailed the technical observations made and the corresponding actions taken. Al-Sufyani highlighted the essential role of joint efforts by relevant authorities and local councils in strengthening the authority's capacity to manage violations and safeguard water resources. He stressed the importance of monitoring drilling violations to ensure the sustainability of water resources for future generations.
