Sana'a: A formal handover ceremony took place today in Sana'a between the outgoing head and members of the Academic and Professional Accreditation Council for Quality Assurance, Dr. Ahmed Al-Habboub, and the incoming head, Dr. Adel Al-Mutari.
According to Yemen News Agency, Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi praised the efforts of the previous council leadership who worked under exceptionally difficult conditions, facing many challenges to raise performance levels and achieve tangible accomplishments recognized both in documentation and fieldwork across academic and standards areas. He emphasized the need for teamwork within a national project aimed at serving the Yemeni people, meeting their needs, easing their suffering, and continuing the path of construction, modernization, and development. He urged utilizing the experience of the previous council leadership and Yemeni academic expertise, stressing the country's need for all capable contributors to national development.
Minister Al-Saadi called on the new council leadership to establish a healthy, productive relationship with the higher education sector, overcome existing issues, and coordinate joint projects and activities to enhance education quality in Yemeni institutions. Deputy Minister Dr. Hatem Al-Da'is congratulated the new council leadership for earning trust under applicable laws and pledged the ministry's full support to help them carry out their assigned tasks, strengthen cooperation, and achieve targeted successes.
He lauded the outgoing council for their significant achievements over the past five years, especially in the recovery phase despite facing hardships, and urged the new leadership to build on accumulated experiences from quality experts and national specialists. New council head Dr. Adel Al-Mutari affirmed the council's commitment to shoulder its responsibilities and continue progress based on prior achievements, acknowledging the previous team's efforts amid tough circumstances.
Outgoing head Dr. Ahmed Al-Habboub gave a brief overview of the council's quality assurance journey in three phases: from 2009 to 2014, focusing on founding and launching reference frameworks and standard structures; from 2015 to 2020, addressing challenges such as aggression and blockade while preparing national academic reference standards; and from 2021 to 2025, achieving significant advancements in global recognition efforts and technical infrastructure.
The ceremony concluded with honoring the previous council leadership with certificates of appreciation and signing handover minutes between outgoing and incoming teams.
