Sana'a: Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom announced the launch of a pilot uranium processing unit in Tanzania. According to Yemen News Agency, Mantra Tanzania Limited, a subsidiary of Uranium One Group, which is part of Rosatom, stated that it had commissioned the pilot uranium processing unit at the Mkuju River project located in southern Tanzania. The project is intended to test technologies for industrial-scale uranium processing. Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu Hassan took part in the official inauguration ceremony of the pilot unit, which is situated at the Nyota deposit. The pilot unit will test uranium processing methods and develop improved solutions as needed. The data collected from this pilot unit will be instrumental in designing the main processing complex, which aims to have a production capacity of up to 3,000 tons of uranium annually. The construction of this complex is set to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with hopes of reaching operational capacity by 2029.
