Russia’s Reserves See $11 Billion Weekly Jump

Moscow: Russia's international reserves, which include gold and foreign exchange, experienced an increase of $11 billion between May 16 and 23.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Central Bank of Russia reported that the country's international reserves reached $678.5 billion on May 23, compared to $667.5 billion on May 16, 2025. This marks a significant rise within a week.

The Central Bank's statement, published by the Russia Today news website, also highlighted that the value of gold in the reserves rose last month by $18.086 billion, reaching $247.036 billion. Consequently, the share of gold in reserves attained a record high of 36.3%.

Russia's international reserves are composed of highly liquid foreign assets, which are under the control of the Central Bank of Russia and the Russian government. These assets include foreign currencies, special borrowing rights, the reserve position in the International Monetary Fund, and gold.
