Sana'a: The second phase of the Asian "B" Coaching License Diploma training course concluded on Thursday in the capital Sana'a. Organized by the General Football Federation, the course ran from June 20 to July 2, 2026, under the supervision of the Federation's Technical Department, with the participation of 24 coaches.
According to Yemen News Agency, at the closing ceremony, the Second Vice President of the Football Federation, Dr. Adel Omar, praised the success of the specialized course, describing it as a fundamental pillar for the development of national teams. He explained that the Federation prioritizes qualification and training, expressing appreciation for the leadership's interest and support in holding a series of specialized courses and workshops in cooperation with Arab and Asian federations.
The Secretary-General of the Federation, Hossam Al-Sunbani, commended the level of the coaches participating in the course, which he described as a valuable addition that will revitalize the Federation's technical activities. He acknowledged the efforts of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) instructor, Salem Azzan from Oman, the Federation's Technical Director, Captain Amin Al-Sunaini, and all those who collaborated on the Federation's committees. He also highlighted the efforts of the AFC representative, Winsor John, and the AFC's Development Department for their role in the course's success. He emphasized that signing the development agreement with the AFC is a significant step forward in the development of Yemeni football, especially after a period of isolation from such training courses and specialized programs.
For his part, the Federation's Technical Director, Captain Amin Al-Sunaini, expressed his delight at the conclusion of the course, which he considered important as the first course held under the auspices of the AFC after a long hiatus. He noted that the course serves as a key gateway to launching the "Self-Learning Agreement." He stated that the Federation is looking forward to having the training agreement approved by the AFC and commencing the training program next April. This aligns with the Federation's commitment to conducting courses according to international standards to ensure maximum benefit for coaches. He also announced a specialized annual training program within the framework of the cooperation agreement with the AFC.
Captain Al-Sunaini reviewed some of the Federation's strategic projects, including the "Coaching Experience" project with national teams, the "Coaches of the Future" project based on international standards, and a four-year strategic plan aimed at achieving significant progress with the support of the "Talent Development Project." This project includes the establishment of three training centers for talented players in three governorates by 2030, and a project to nurture young talent and national cadres.
A speech was delivered on behalf of the trainees by Captain Ahmed Al-Wadi, who praised the efforts made to ensure the success of the course, which culminated in days of hard work, dedication, and a pursuit of knowledge and self-development in football. He expressed appreciation for the Yemeni Football Association's continued support of national talent, acknowledging the role of the AFC instructor, Captain Salem Azzan, his assistant, Captain Mahmoud Obaid, and Dr. Abu Ali. Their efforts in the course were not just a passing phase, but a real launchpad for a training journey, during which the students acquired modern tactical and educational concepts that qualify them to deal efficiently with different age groups and advanced levels according to advanced scientific methods.
