Sana'a: Sana'a province undersecretary for education and youth sector Taleb Dahan and executive director of the governorate's cleaning and improvement fund Eng. Sami Al-Turabi launched on Saturday an environmental awareness campaign in government and private schools. The campaign, to be implemented in the districts of Hamdan, New Sana'a, Sanhan and Bani Bahloul, Bani Matar, and Jehana, aims to promote a culture of cleanliness among students and convey awareness messages to homes and the wider community.
According to Yemen News Agency, at the launch in Hamdan district, attended by Director of School Health at the Ministry of Education Dr. Adel Al-Barti, Hamdan District Director Fahd Atiyah, School Health official in the governorate's Education Sector Faizah Al-Abarat, and the Fund's Awareness Officer Sadiq Al-Jamali, Dahan praised the Cleaning and Improvement Fund's initiative to organize the campaign. He highlighted the important role of school health officials at the ministry and within the governorate's education sector and districts in ensuring the campaign's success and achieving its objectives.
Dahan called on students and teachers to put the campaign's objectives into practice, starting at school, in their neighborhoods, and at home, by adopting positive behaviors that help keep schoolyards and streets clean and create a clean and healthy environment. He affirmed that schools are a key pillar in building community awareness, noting that targeting students ensures that cleanliness messages reach every home, as students serve as a link between schools and families.
For his part, the Fund's director explained that the campaign aims to raise students' awareness of the importance of cleanliness and preserving the school environment and surrounding areas, while preparing students to serve as awareness ambassadors who can convey environmental concepts to their families and neighborhoods and promote positive behaviors, such as refraining from throwing waste in the streets and placing it in designated areas.
He noted that the campaign includes awareness lectures, the distribution of educational posters and brochures, and practical cleaning activities in schoolyards, including planting and caring for fruit trees, with the participation of the Fund's workers and awareness teams. He affirmed that the Fund will continue implementing the campaign over the coming weeks to reach the largest possible number of schools, calling on school administrations and parents to engage with the campaign and support the Fund's efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
