Sana'a: A meeting in Sana'a province, chaired by Governor Abdulbasit al-Hadi, discussed on Tuesday the agricultural sector's plan for seedling production and efforts to ensure the success of this year's afforestation campaign.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which included province undersecretary for the Services Sector Faris al-Kahali, focused on the procedures for initiating the planting of 100,000 Sidr seedlings this season. This initiative is part of the province's strategy to expand the cultivation of economically productive forest trees, primarily used as pastures for bees and other purposes.
The participants at the meeting approved the distribution of seedlings to the province's sectors and tasked the cooperative societies in the districts with planting them in appropriate areas in valleys and streams while ensuring their preservation.
During the meeting, al-Hadi highlighted the importance of expanding the planting of various types of seedlings to increase vegetation cover and expand grazing areas for animals. He urged the community to preserve pastures and avoid excessive logging and random tree cutting.
