Sana'a: A meeting held in Sana'a on Tuesday brought together Chairman of the Shura Council's Economic Committee Engineer Abdulmalek Al-Thawr and Deputy Chairman of the Sana'a Capital Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammed Salah to discuss key obstacles and challenges facing the private sector, particularly those hindering industrial localization and support for national products.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by Deputy Chairman of the Economic Committee Ahmed Shammaakh, committee members, businessmen, representatives of commercial houses, agencies, and national food industry factories, reviewed proposals by business and industrial leaders to advance localization efforts, improve the business environment, encourage investment, and strengthen the private sector's role in economic development.
Al-Thawr stressed the importance of addressing challenges facing commercial and productive activities to boost national production and enhance market competitiveness.
For his part, Salah affirmed the private sector's support for the committee and its readiness to hold meetings and discussions aimed at strengthening private sector activities and ensuring their sustainability within the framework of public-private partnership.
The meeting agreed to hold specialized discussions with representatives of mills, pharmaceutical, and food factories to review the government's plan to increase the share of bran allocated to the local market and establish a mechanism for supplying it to livestock breeders, in a way that balances the needs of various productive sectors, enhances food security, and the national economy.
