Scholarly Seminar in Hodeida Explores Legitimacy and Significance of Prophet’s Birthday Celebrations

Sana'a: The General Authority for Endowments and Guidance office in Hodeida governorate, in cooperation with the Scholars and Quranic Culture units, organized an awareness seminar on Tuesday in the city of Hodeida to commemorate the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's birth (Mawlid Al-Nabawi) for the year 1448 AH.

According to Yemen News Agency, the seminar's sessions highlighted the significance of the Mawlid within the Muslim world, stressing the need to draw lessons from the Prophet's life and embody his moral principles to strengthen faith, spiritual awareness, and community cohesion. Discussions focused on the religious and scholarly arguments affirming the legitimacy of celebrating the occasion, refuting misconceptions surrounding the event.

Speakers also emphasized the historical role of the Yemeni people in supporting the Prophet Muhammad and contributing to the global spread of Islam. Speaking at the event, Head of the Governorates' Scholars Unit Sheikh Ali Saumal described the anniversary as a vital spiritual milestone to reflect on the Prophet's character, moral conduct, and guidance. He noted that celebrating the occasion reflects deep devotion to the Prophet while connecting younger generations to his teachings.

For his part, Head of the Guidance Sector in Hodeida Abdulrahman Al-Warfi highlighted the core objectives of the Islamic message-namely, sincere devotion to God, human development, and standing against tyranny. He stressed that adhering to the Prophet's path is essential for uniting the nation, maintaining sovereignty, and addressing geopolitical challenges.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammad Balghaith emphasized the importance of integrating the Prophet's teachings into daily interactions and conduct to reinforce moral values. He called for utilizing the Mawlid season to expand community outreach, strengthen social ties, and promote the core principles of mercy and guidance embodied in the prophetic message.
