Seminar Explores Finance, Investment, & Digital Transformation in Yemen’s Banking Sector

Sanaa: The Yemeni Banks Association, in partnership with Al-Razi University's Faculty of Administrative and Human Sciences, Department of Finance and Investment, organized a scientific seminar on Thursday titled "Finance, Investment, and Digital Transformation in the Banking Sector."

According to Yemen News Agency, Central Bank of Yemen Board Member Dr. Hamoud Al-Najjar opened the event by emphasizing the crucial role of finance and investment in any modern economy. He highlighted that economic recovery and growth necessitate their integration, and called for a comprehensive national strategy to revitalize the national economy. This strategy should facilitate access to finance for innovators and investors, directing funding towards productive and sustainable sectors that benefit society.

Dr. Al-Najjar also underscored the importance of focusing on microfinance and entrepreneurship during the seminar, pointing out their role in stimulating economic activity. He advocated for strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors to build mutual trust and attract new investments.

Al-Razi University President Dr. Khalil Al-Wajeeh remarked on the dependence of economic development and investment in human capital on the quality of education and human resources. He stressed that the seminar's recommendations should aim to strengthen the relationship between Yemeni universities and the labor market by aligning academic outcomes with national economic development and community needs.

Dr. Al-Wajeeh highlighted investment in the digital and knowledge economy as a promising opportunity for Yemen due to its relatively low infrastructure costs. He noted the significance of artificial intelligence as a key driver of the global economy.

Acting Assistant Executive of the Yemeni Banks Association Dr. Akram Al-Jarmouzi stated that the seminar adds significant value to the banking sector by linking academic outputs with labor market needs, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. He commended Al-Razi University's efforts to connect higher education with the economic, investment, banking, and financial sectors through specialized academic programs.

The seminar featured six research papers covering national partnerships for developing banking and financial professionals, investment portfolios, funds, banking trading systems and applications, the impact of digital banking compliance on finance and investment, and digital transformation in business, finance and investment in the era of digital transformation.

The event was attended by Al-Razi University Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Turki Al-Qabbani, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences Abdul Fattah Al-Qurs, directors of Yemeni banks, and other participants, who contributed discussions and remarks that enriched the seminar.
