Sana'a: The Governor of Hajjah, Hilal Al-Soufi, and the President of Hajjah University, Dr. Taha Al-Hamzi, today honored three researchers from the university for the year 2026. The honorees included Dr. Yasser Issa for his research in biochemistry and drug design, Dr. Ali Al-Hilani for his research in science, environment, and fish biology, and Dr. Yousef Al-Sabah for his research in solid-state physics and nanotechnology.
According to Yemen News Agency, Governor Al-Soufi affirmed that the honoring comes within the framework of the commitment to supporting scientific research, in implementation of the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership and the government's guidelines, which place great importance on this area. He highlighted the importance of research that benefits the governorate and the nation in many fields, and the governorate's urgent need for it, noting the local authority's keenness to enhance coordination with the university leadership to support scientific research efforts.
The Governor of Hajjah expressed pride in the achievements of the distinguished cadres from the governorate's sons in the field of scientific research, reaffirming the governorate's commitment to supporting these efforts to advance this area, hold scientific conferences, and translate these researches into practical reality. Meanwhile, the University President, Dr. Al-Hamzi, emphasized that the honoring and awards are the first of their kind at the university level, appreciating the governorate leadership's interest in allocating prizes for research aspects and scientists in recognition of the efforts made in this regard.
He explained that the upcoming phase will witness expansion and development in the research field, as the number of researches has reached 35 so far, considering research as one of the university's most important functions alongside teaching and community service. The University President affirmed the commitment to supporting graduation projects and scientific research in various fields, reviewing some of the projects and research of distinguished university cadres during the past period, and the university's plans to implement new systems in several university departments in the future.
The honoring ceremony included a presentation of the contents, objectives, and results of the honorees' research. The ceremony was attended by a number of the university's vice presidents and assistants, the Secretary-General of the University Nasser Al-Asimi, deans of faculties, and the Deputy Director of the Health Office in the governorate, Dr. Khaled Al-Nazari.
